In a post-secession Chicago, the ability to navigate the borders becomes increasingly perilous. The Issa Family, a Palestinian American family, are determined to make the best of the current situation, and celebrate the wedding of two of its youngest members. Navigating the complexities of buried family skeletons complicates an already difficult reality. Hayat and Aden follow a difficult path, trying to remain faithful to tradition in a new and changing world comes with the constant threat of dishonour to the family and government retaliation.
