Submissions open for 2019
Middle East Monitor's (MEMO) Palestine Book Awards are back for an eighth year and invite you to submit your best entries.
MEMO will be hosting an awards ceremony to honour and endorse the best books written in English on the subject of Palestine. The awards promote existing books on Palestine as well as encouraging new authors to write about this sensitive but important topic with the aim of drawing attention to a cause that rests at the heart of the Middle East.
In November 2019 we will be hosting the awards ceremony in which the three best books selected will be awarded prizes in the Academic, Memoir and Creative categories. There will also be the potential for interviews and other promotional events to increase awareness and sales of the books.
Awards winners will be announced at the annual invitation-only event held in a top London hotel where publishers, authors, journalists, academics and politicians will share a platform.
Last year's winners included:
- Academic Award: Maha Nassar - Brothers Apart: Palestinian citizens of Israel and the Arab world (Stanford University) and Colin Andresen - Balfour in the Dock: J.M.N. Jeffries & the Case for the Prosecution (Skyscraper Publications)
- Memoir Award: Reja-e Busailah - In the Land of My Birth: A Palestinian Boyhood (Institute for Palestine Studies)
- Lifetime Achievement Award: Salim Tamari - The Great War and the Remaking of Palestine (University of California Press)
