Barbara Bill

Barbara Bill was awarded a Bachelor Arts (anthropology/sociology) and a Master Tropical Health from University of Queensland. She worked in remote Indigenous communities in the Northern Territory and Western Australia, with Aboriginal youth in the juvenile justice system on Groote Eylandt, Aboriginal youth in Borroloola, and traditional Aboriginal law women in the Kimberleys. She also worked in community development in Afghanistan, Cambodia, Sudan, Syria, and lived and worked for six years in Gaza, Palestine. Barbara Bill met Ghada Ageel, who was her teacher, while studying Arabic in Gaza, before working together meeting, interviewing, translating, and transcribing stories by the seven Palestinian women for the Women’s Voices from Gaza Series.
