Dr. Nousheen Zakaria

Dr. Nousheen Zakaria is a children’s author, educator, researcher and award-winning entrepreneur with more than 18 years of experience spanning technology, education and entrepreneurship. She holds a PhD from the University of Leeds, UK. She is the founder of Sidr School and Sidr Productions, an independent UK children’s publishing and EdTech company.

Dr. Zakaria’s journey into children’s literature grew from her experiences as a mother and educator. Raising her own children, and later founding a school, allowed her to closely observe how children question the world, navigate different ideas and often respond with a simplicity and compassion that adults can overlook.

Those experiences changed the direction of her work. She began writing stories inspired by real moments and conversations, bringing together her background in research, education and technology with a growing conviction that children need stories that take their thoughts, feelings and ideas seriously.
