Nevien Shaabneh

Nevien Shaabneh is a Palestinian author, educator, and public speaker. Shaabneh was born in Jerusalem before her family moved to Chicago. In addition to teaching high school English for many years, Shaabneh publicly speaks on matters relating to Muslims in America and the Arab-American experience. Shaabneh is a firm believer in the power of literature and the arts. She works with youth in inspiring expression and social action through writing. Shaabneh graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a bachelor's in English Education and from Saint Xavier with a Masters in Arts.
