William Tamplin
William Tamplin is a second lieutenant in the US Marine Corps and a literary translator from Arabic. He holds a PhD in Comparative Literature from Harvard University and a BA from Georgetown. He was a Fulbright Scholar to Jordan, and he has taught English at AMIDEAST in Egypt. Apart from Cry in a Long Night, he has translated poems and essays by Jabra as well as the poetry of Muhammad Fanatil al-Hajaya, a Bedouin poet from Jordan, and short stories by Muhammad Khudayyir, Yusuf Yaqoub Haddad and Ali Ubayd al-Sa'i. He is from Louisville, Kentucky.
