M. Muhannad Ayyash
M. Muhannad Ayyash was born and raised in Silwan, Al-Quds (Jerusalem), before immigrating to Canada, where he is now a Professor of Sociology and Director of the John de Chastelain Peace Studies Initiative at Mount Royal University. He is the author of A Hermeneutics of Violence (UTP, 2019). He has published several academic articles on topics such as political violence, vaccine apartheid, exiling writing, the social-political relationship, and Palestinian decolonial movements in journals such as Distinktion, Interventions, the European Journal of International Relations, Comparative Studies of South Asia, Africa and the Middle East, and the European Journal of Social Theory. He also is the author of multiple book chapters and has a co-edited book on Protests and Generations in the MENA and the Mediterranean. He writes opinion pieces for Al-Jazeera, The Baffler, Middle East Eye, Mondoweiss, and The Breach, among others
